Robert E. Maxwell, M.D., Ph.D. (1971-2006)
Dr. Maxwell received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from Ohio State University and completed his residency training in neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Maxwell's area of clinical expertise include surgical treatment of epilepsy and Parkinson's disease.
Previously, Dr. Maxwell served as Head of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Minnesota from 1995-2003, President of the Society of University Neurosurgeons, and President of the Minnesota Neurosurgical Society. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery, the Minnesota Medical Society, and the Minnesota Association of Public Teaching Hospitals. Prior to his appointment as Head of the Department of Neurosurgery, Dr. Maxwell was Chief of the Medical Staff at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics.
